The Federal Government has released a new flood warning, cautioning that several states are likely to face heavy rains and possible flooding in the coming days.
In a statement issued by the Federal Ministry of Environment’s Erosion, Flood and Coastal Zone Management Department, Director Usman Abdullahi Bokani confirmed that the alert covers the period from October 1 to 3, 2025.
According to the notice, communities in Adamawa, Kebbi, Bauchi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kaduna, and Niger States are expected to be most at risk. Among them, Kebbi State tops the list with multiple towns—including Argungu, Bagudu, Jega, and Birnin Kebbi—projected to experience high water levels. Other vulnerable locations include Jaji and Zaria in Kaduna, as well as Magama and Sarkin-Pawa in Niger.
The Ministry has urged local authorities, disaster management agencies, and residents to remain vigilant. People living near rivers and low-lying areas are advised to move to safer ground and take preventive actions to reduce the impact of possible flooding.
Bokani emphasized that early precautions are critical, noting that the government will continue monitoring developments and provide updates as the situation unfolds.
