The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced the official opening of its student loan application portal for the 2025/2026 academic session, giving students in tertiary institutions nationwide access to financial support.
According to a statement by NELFUND’s Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the application window will run from Thursday, October 23, 2025, to Saturday, January 31, 2026.
The agency advised newly admitted students to use their Admission Number or JAMB Registration Number in place of a matriculation number when applying. It also urged tertiary institutions to be flexible with registration and fee payment deadlines for students awaiting loan disbursement.
“Institutional authorities are encouraged to show understanding in enforcing registration and fee payment deadlines for students awaiting loan disbursement,” the statement read.
NELFUND further advised institutions that have not commenced their 2025/2026 academic session to formally communicate their approved academic calendar to the Fund for scheduling flexibility.
The agency appealed to all institutions to implement temporary registration measures for applicants whose loan requests are still being processed, ensuring that no student is denied education due to financial difficulties.
