The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to completing the ongoing expansion of the Abuja (Mararaba)–Keffi highway, a major infrastructure project expected to significantly improve connectivity in Nigeria’s central corridor.
Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, announced during a site inspection that the Abuja-Keffi segment—classified as Section I of the broader dual carriageway linking Abuja to Makurdi—remains on track for completion by June 2026. He was joined on the visit by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Engr. Olufunsho O. Adebiyi, alongside other key officials.
In a press statement issued by Mohammed A. Ahmed, Director of Press and Public Relations, the minister emphasized that the project covers 43.65 kilometers on each side of the road, making a total of 87.3 kilometers of dual lanes.
This section forms a vital link in the larger Abuja–Lafia–Makurdi–Enugu–Port Harcourt route, a strategic transport corridor designed to ease movement, cut down travel time, and drive economic growth across the Federal Capital Territory, as well as the states of Nasarawa, Benue, Enugu, Abia, Imo, and Rivers.
