Michael Bush Pledges 31,000 Low-Cost Homes in Akwa Ibom Ahead of 2027
Michael Bush, seeking the Akwa Ibom governorship on the Labour Party platform, has promised 1,000 low-cost homes in each of the state’s 31 local government areas if elected in 2027—a proposed total of 31,000 units.
Speaking on XL 106.9 radio in Uyo, Bush placed housing among the priorities of his eight-point development agenda.
His proposals also include centres offering education, employment and recreation for elderly residents, alongside improved electricity and inclusive governance.
Bush pledged to complete inherited projects, pay pensions and gratuities on retirement day, and ease excessive taxation.
He also proposed economic subsidies and collaboration with traditional rulers and village youth leaders to address rural insecurity.
The housing pledge remains a campaign proposal. The report provides no construction timetable, funding breakdown or beneficiary eligibility criteria.
