The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, has inaugurated a technical committee to oversee the completion, planning, and disposal of 753 recovered estate properties across the country.

This initiative aligns with the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sanitize the housing sector and advance the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The committee is mandated to ascertain the exact number of housing units, assess the cost of completing infrastructure, develop a standardized implementation plan, and recommend a transparent strategy for the disposal of the properties.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Minister noted that the move would transform what was once a symbol of public sector mismanagement into a model of accountability and national progress.

The committee is chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Shuaib Belgore. Also on the team is QS Pemi Samuel Temitope, Director of Public Buildings, along with directors from the departments of Procurement, Finance, Federal Government Asset Management, and Urban and Regional Planning.

In his remarks, Dr. Shuaib thanked the Minister for the confidence reposed in the committee and pledged to carry out the assignment with commitment and professionalism.

The establishment of the committee is seen as a crucial step toward restoring public trust and ensuring that government-owned properties are efficiently completed and put to productive use.
