FG Reaffirms Commitment to Housing and Urban Planning at NITP 56th Conference

President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to expanding housing delivery and enforcing town planning laws across Nigeria.

Speaking at the 56th International Conference and Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) which held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja, President Tinubu represented by The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa emphasized the government’s renewed commitment to tackling Nigeria’s urban challenges through coordinated planning and policy reforms.

“Today, Nigeria grapples with problems of rapid urbanization and environmental threats. This challenges demand a renewed and coordinated approach to planning administration. So in response, our government is taking the steps of approving the national urban development policy, a milestone that reflects our commitment to build livable and productive cities. The policy provides harmonized framework for collaboration among agencies responsible for planning housing and infrastructure promoting coherence and accountability.”

The President commended the NITP for its continued advocacy and professional input in shaping urban policy, noting that the Federal government is strengthening frameworks for land use management, urban development, and affordable housing nationwide.

“This government is building strong partnership with bodies like the NITP to drive evidence based policy making and capacity building.”

The minister assured that President Bola Tinubu’s administration remains focused on implementing planning regulations that promote orderly growth and livable cities through the Renewed Hope Housing Program
