The Nigerian Navy successfully extracted and evacuated numerous individuals trapped under a collapsed building in the Alakija area of Lagos State during a coordinated multi-agency search-and-rescue operation. According to a formal disclosure by the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the emergency response team immediately mobilized to the site after receiving an urgent distress notification regarding the structural failure.
Upon arrival, naval first responders integrated with alternative civic rescue teams to comb through the wreckage for survivors. The recovered individuals were immediately transported to the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital in Ojo, Lagos, where clinical teams provided critical emergency treatments and ongoing stabilization care. Folorunsho praised the tactical precision, professionalism, and dedication of the deployed units, emphasizing that their rapid intervention directly prevented further loss of life.
In light of the successful mission, Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Idi Abbas highly commended the bravery and efficiency shown by both the active field operators and the base medical personnel at the Ojo facility. He noted that the seamless collaboration between military assets, external emergency response agencies, and local community members proved vital to maximizing survival outcomes.
Expressing deep condolences to the affected families, the naval leadership extended wishes for a swift rehabilitation process to all injured parties.
