Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, was reportedly blocked by naval officers during an inspection of a site allegedly involved in illegal construction in Gaduwa District, Abuja.

The officers, acting on instructions from retired Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, former Chief of Naval Staff, confronted Wike at plot 1946, Buffer Transit Southern Park Way, preventing bulldozers from accessing the site. Wike was accompanied by senior FCT administration officials during the visit.

Despite attempts to enter the property, Wike was forced to turn back after phone consultations. He later assured that the illegal development would not continue.

“The landowner has no approvals or legal documents for this development and is attempting to seize the property through intimidation,” Wike stated.

He emphasized that lawlessness cannot be tolerated, especially when government officials are performing their duties. Wike added that he has communicated with the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Naval Staff to ensure the matter is resolved.
