Spanish billionaire and Amancio Ortega, founder of Inditex, has emerged as the world’s largest real estate owner, cementing his dominance beyond the global fashion industry.

According to recent industry estimates, Ortega has built a vast property portfolio valued at about $25 billion, spanning more than 200 assets across key cities worldwide.

The 90-year-old businessman, whose net worth is estimated at $148 billion, ranks among the richest individuals globally and has steadily expanded his influence through strategic real estate investments.

His property empire includes prime office buildings, commercial complexes, and high-value assets leased to major multinational corporations, particularly in the technology sector.

Much of Ortega’s expansion has been financed through dividends from his majority stake in Inditex, which owns global fashion brands such as Zara. These earnings have been consistently reinvested into premium real estate assets in major international markets.

In recent years, Ortega has accelerated acquisitions, focusing on landmark properties and corporate headquarters in strategic urban locations. Analysts say his investment style reflects a conservative approach, prioritising stable, income-generating assets over high-risk ventures.

Beyond real estate, Ortega has diversified his investments through his holding company into sectors including energy, telecommunications, and infrastructure—broadening his economic footprint globally.

Industry observers note that his long-term strategy of acquiring “trophy assets” and holding them for sustained value has set him apart from other global investors.

With his growing portfolio and continued acquisitions, Ortega has solidified his position as the leading figure in global real estate investment.
