… As He Gets Honoured at Africa’s Largest Housing and Construction Event as a Model of Transformative Leadership

Bauchi State Governor, His Excellency Senator Bala Mohammed, will take the spotlight at the 19th edition of the Africa International Housing Show (AIHS) as he is set to be honoured for his bold and far-reaching achievements in infrastructure and housing development.

The event focusing on the theme “Reimagining Housing Through Innovation, Collaboration, and Policy,” will hold from July 27 to August 1, 2025, with the high-level opening session on Tuesday, July 29 at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

The confirmation of Governor Bala Mohammed’s attendance is not only a testament to the governor’s passion for urban transformation but also a strategic opportunity to showcase Bauchi State’s impressive development milestones to a global audience of over 40,000 participants from 21 countries.

Speaking on the significance of the governor’s participation, Festus Adebayo, Convener of AIHS, stated “We are proud to celebrate Governor Bala Mohammed, whose administration has consistently demonstrated what it means to lead with purpose. His infrastructural legacy, from roads to housing, urban renewal, and institutional reform sets a powerful example for other sub-national governments in Nigeria and beyond.”

AIHS 2025 will serve as a platform to celebrate his administration’s investment in physical development, smart city planning, and affordable housing projects that align with national and continental development goals. Notably, the Governor will be formally recognized with a special award during the opening ceremony for his administration’s commitment to creating livable communities through visionary leadership.

Under his leadership, Bauchi has witnessed the construction and rehabilitation of over 500 kilometers of road networks, including urban dual carriageways, inter-city routes, and feeder roads critical for rural connectivity. Landmark projects such as the Awalah–Gidan Mai–Miri road, the Sabon Kaura-Miri highway, and the state’s first flyover have redefined the city’s skyline and improved mobility.

In housing, Bauchi State has delivered 2,500 affordable housing units targeting civil servants, artisans, and low-income families, projects that not only reduce the housing deficit but also stimulate local job creation and construction value chains. Partnerships with federal agencies such as the Family Homes Funds have further expanded housing access and affordability across the state.

Governor Bala Mohammed’s reform-driven administration has also prioritized urban regeneration projects, including the renovation of government buildings, modernization of palaces, and upgrading of markets and schools, efforts that contribute to Bauchi’s emerging status as one of Nigeria’s most forward-looking states.

AIHS 2025, held in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, is expected to draw participation from governors, housing commissioners, ministers, international development partners, and investors. It is part of the AIHS commitment to encouraging and rewarding impactful governance in the areas of infrastructure and housing, while fostering new collaborations across Africa’s built environment.

As part of its mission, AIHS continues to champion innovations in the housing sector through exhibitions, panel discussions, and investment forums, making it the ideal venue for many states to engage prospective investors, present their infrastructure blueprint, and build lasting public-private partnerships.

AIHS, which also owns Housing TV Africa (StarTimes Channel 149) and the award-winning Housing Development Programme on AIT, is recognized for its wide media reach and policy influence. The show has historically hosted vice presidents, ministers, ambassadors, and renowned global experts, further cementing its position as Africa’s leading marketplace for housing innovation and investment.

Governor Bala Mohammed is expected to lead the Bauchi State delegation during the event and will share insights into his administration’s development vision, offering a model for state-led transformation across Africa.

With over 400 exhibitors, 50 speakers, and a cross-continental audience, AIHS 2025 promises to be the most impactful edition yet, one where visionary leadership takes center stage in shaping the future of African housing.
