A tragic incident struck Yaba, Lagos, on Friday night when a three-storey building under construction suddenly collapsed, leaving several people trapped beneath the rubble.
The collapse occurred around 8:30 p.m. at 333 Borno Street, Alagomeji, Yaba, throwing the community into panic. Emergency responders—including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Lagos State Building Control Agency, and the police—swiftly mobilized to the scene.
So far, four adult males have been rescued alive and rushed to hospital for treatment. The actual number of people still trapped remains unclear as search and rescue operations continue late into the night.
The cause of the collapse has not yet been determined, but investigations are underway.
