Former Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola (SAN), has urged Nigerian youths to reject the pursuit of sudden wealth, warning that the quest for quick riches often leads to regret and lasting consequences.
Delivering the 40th convocation lecture of the University of Ilorin titled “The Gen-Z Playbook: Navigating Work and the Real World,” Fashola encouraged graduates to embrace hard work, integrity, and discipline as keys to long-term success.
He advised them to resist pressure to engage in wrongdoing, expressing optimism that the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda would improve opportunities for young people. Fashola also urged graduates to build meaningful relationships, interact more with people than machines, and use social media to showcase their skills and promote positive values.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University’s Governing Council, Abiodun Aluko, congratulated the graduates and urged them to uphold good conduct, while appreciating the federal government and stakeholders for supporting education.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN) encouraged the graduates to become agents of national transformation, noting that the institution produced 316 first-class graduates out of 13,868 students for its 40th convocation
