Renowned Islamic scholar and spiritual leader, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, has passed away at the age of 98.

The influential cleric, born on June 29, 1927, died on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

A close associate, Daha Azhary Bauchi, confirmed the news early Thursday, writing:
“Innaa lillahi wa innaa ilaihi raji’un… Maulana Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi has passed away (Wafaty). May Allah bless us with his blessings.”

Another disciple, Abubakar Ibrahim Wunti, also confirmed the passing.

Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi was widely considered one of the most respected Islamic figures in Nigeria and across West Africa.
Throughout his lifetime, he played a central role in promoting Quranic education, Islamic scholarship, and spiritual development.

He was the leader of thousands of disciples, known for his dedication to memorisation, recitation, and interpretation of the Holy Qur’an, and for shaping multiple generations of Islamic students.

His death marks the end of an era for the Dariqa community and the broader Muslim Ummah in Nigeria.

May Allah grant him mercy and admit him into Al-Jannah.
