The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has begun enforcement actions on 1,095 property titles revoked over the non-payment of statutory land charges across major districts in Abuja.

Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, confirmed the development on Friday, noting that affected properties are located in Asokoro, Maitama, Garki, and Wuse.

According to the statement, 835 properties were revoked for defaulting on ground rent, while 260 others violated requirements relating to land use conversion fees, penalties, and other statutory charges.

The FCTA said it issued several notices between May and November 2025 through national newspapers, online platforms, and TV stations, warning property owners to clear outstanding payments.

Despite repeated warnings, many owners failed to comply, an action the administration said violates Section 28 (5a and 5b) of the Land Use Act and breaches the conditions attached to the Rights of Occupancy.

The Minister approved the enforcement after the expiration of a final 14-day grace period on November 25, 2025.

With the deadline now passed, the FCTA says enforcement will proceed on all properties owing ground rent, violation fees, and conversion charges.
