The Federal Government has intensified efforts to fast-track the completion of the 1,550 Abuja Army housing project, directing that the development be delivered within the next two to three months.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reportedly gave the directive to ensure that the Nigerian Army Housing Project in Abuja is ready for commissioning by the end of March or early April.

Minister Inspects Project Site

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, disclosed this during an inspection tour of the estate. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to providing modern and fully serviced accommodation for personnel of the Nigerian Army.

According to him, the 1,550 Abuja Army housing project aligns with the government’s broader infrastructure and security support objectives, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and boosting troop morale.

Part Of Renewed Hope Agenda

The housing scheme forms part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration, which prioritises infrastructure expansion, improved public sector welfare, and strengthened security architecture.

The project is being delivered as a special presidential intervention under the Renewed Hope Housing Programme. It comprises one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom bungalows designed to meet diverse accommodation needs within the Armed Forces.

Developer And Supervising Agencies

The estate is being constructed by Brains and Hammers Limited, a private estate development company, while implementation is jointly supervised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and the Federal Housing Authority.

Dangiwa explained that the initiative seeks to revive the traditional barracks system, where members of the Armed Forces reside within secure, well-planned communities that support effective service delivery.

Integrated Residential Community

Beyond housing units, the 1,550 Abuja Army housing project is designed as a fully integrated estate featuring essential infrastructure and support facilities.

Key amenities include:

  • Fully tarred internal road networks
  • Religious centres
  • A shopping mall
  • Sports and recreational facilities
  • Officers’ mess
  • Healthcare clinic
  • Schools
  • Fire service station

These facilities are expected to create a sustainable living environment for military personnel and their families.

Road Infrastructure Boost

In addition to internal infrastructure, a 6.5-kilometre dualised access road linking the estate directly to the Kubwa Highway is under construction by the same developer.

The minister noted that the road project has significantly improved accessibility and triggered new private developments along the corridor.

He observed that construction has progressed substantially across multiple components, including landscaping, electricity installations, water supply systems, and internal road works.

Delivery Timeline

A representative of Brains and Hammers expressed confidence in meeting the completion timeline, stating that the project remains on schedule for delivery by the end of March or the first week of April.

The developer also commended the minister’s visit, noting that federal oversight and support have reinforced their commitment to quality execution.

Strategic Importance

The 1,550 Abuja Army housing project underscores the Federal Government’s focus on military welfare as a critical pillar of national security.

By improving living conditions for soldiers and their families, the administration aims to strengthen morale, improve operational readiness, and reinforce long-term stability within the security sector.

Stakeholders will now monitor the final phases of construction as the government works toward commissioning one of the most significant military housing interventions under the current administration.
