The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has warned residents of Jigawa State to stop activities contributing to flooding, particularly in vulnerable communities across the state.

The agency said indiscriminate waste disposal, blocked drainages, illegal construction on waterways, and deforestation continue to worsen flood incidents in Jigawa.

Speaking during an interactive session with journalists in Dutse, NOA State Director Ahmad Ibrahim said the agency had intensified sensitisation efforts following warnings by weather agencies that several communities across Nigeria remain at risk of flooding this rainy season.

He disclosed that Community Orientation and Mobilisation Officers would be deployed across the 27 local government areas to educate residents, especially those living in flood-prone communities.

The agency urged residents to pay attention to early warning advisories and embrace preventive measures to reduce the impact of flooding across the state.
