A two-storey building under construction has collapsed along Bauchi Road in Sokoto metropolis, with emergency officials confirming that no lives were lost and no one was trapped beneath the rubble. The incident occurred at about 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, prompting an immediate response from emergency personnel.
The Head of the Sokoto Operations Office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Alhaji Tukur Abubakar, who oversees emergency operations in Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states, confirmed the incident at the scene. He said emergency responders conducted a thorough assessment and established that there were no casualties or persons trapped following the collapse.
Officials have commenced investigations to determine the cause of the structural failure. Although the building was still under construction, authorities said the outcome of the investigation would establish whether construction defects, structural weaknesses, or other factors contributed to the collapse.
