A multi-vehicle accident involving two articulated trucks and a private car occurred on the Gbagada Expressway in Lagos on Monday, causing traffic disruption and prompting an emergency response from relevant authorities. The incident happened around the TREM area inward Gbagada, where emergency personnel were immediately deployed to the scene.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed that the collision involved two cargo-laden articulated trucks and one private vehicle. According to the agency, recovery operations commenced shortly after the incident, with a tow truck mobilised to remove the affected vehicles and restore normal traffic flow.
Officials did not immediately disclose the cause of the accident or report any fatalities or injuries. However, the incident led to traffic congestion along the busy corridor as emergency responders worked to manage the situation and clear the roadway.
Road accidents involving heavy-duty vehicles remain a major concern in Lagos due to their impact on traffic movement and public safety. Authorities have repeatedly advised motorists to exercise caution, obey traffic regulations, and remain attentive while driving, especially on major expressways with high vehicular movement.
