The Lagos State Government has begun paying compensation to residents affected by the Oworonshoki urban regeneration project in Kosofe.

LASURA Director-General, Oladimeji Animashaun, said 80 residents have received cheques ranging from ₦3 million to ₦5 million, depending on property type.

He stressed that the area was marked for regeneration over five years ago and that due process was followed.

Assembly member Okanlawon Sanni described the payments as proof of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s compassion and commitment to humane urban renewal.

Some beneficiaries thanked the government, saying the gesture eased their losses.
