Landlord Faces Charges for Allegedly Stripping Tenants’ Roofing Sheets

Ismahil, residing in the Mushin area of Lagos, denied charges of conspiracy, breach of public peace, and theft. According to the prosecution counsel, Insp Courage Ekhueorohan, the incident occurred on December 13, 2023, at No 40, Kekereowo St., Itire, Surulere Lagos.

It was alleged that Ismahil, along with others who are still at large, removed ten zinc roofing sheets from the apartment of the complainant, Lawal Ismail. Furthermore, Ismahil purportedly destroyed the roofing material after unsuccessful attempts to receive rent payment from the complainant.

Additionally, the complainant reported the theft of HP laptops, a gold chain, and two wristwatches from his apartment.

These actions led to charges under sections 168, 287, and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate Ganiyu Tiamiyu granted Ismahil bail in the sum of N100,000, with two responsible sureties in like sum, whose addresses must be verified by the court. The case is scheduled for mention on March 13.
