Mr. Wike stated that this development aligns with the FCT Civil Service Commission Act, 2018, which President Bola Tinubu has approved for implementation. Senior directors in the FCTA will be appointed as permanent secretaries for these secretariats.

The commission will be responsible for managing the employment, training, and discipline of FCT Civil Servants, in line with similar structures in state administrations across the country. The mandate of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu, according to Mr. Wike, is to ensure that things are done right, which is why the president took the step to implement the 2018 law establishing the Civil Service of the FCT.

Emphasizing the importance of geographical representation, Mr. Wike stressed that the appointments must reflect the six geopolitical zones in the country, in adherence to the Federal Character Principle.

He cautioned against any act of sabotage within the FCT Administration and called for full support from directors to achieve the president’s mandate, highlighting the need for commitment and hard work to bring about the desired changes in the city.
