In a bold move towards reigniting Nigeria’s industrial prowess, Vice President Kashim Shettima announced the launch of the Light Up Nigeria Project in the South-East region.

This initiative signals a significant step towards addressing the longstanding power challenges that have hindered economic growth and industrialization in the nation.

During the unveiling ceremony held in Enugu, Vice President Shettima underscored the project’s vital role in propelling the South-East into a new era of industrial revival.

The initiative, a key priority of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, aims to provide stable and reliable power supply, laying the foundation for accelerated economic development.

As part of the project’s inauguration, Senator Shettima also commissioned the 181MW Geometric power plant in Aba, Abia State, further bolstering the region’s capacity to meet the energy demands of its burgeoning industrial sector.

The collaboration between the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited (NDPHC) and its partners underscores a concerted effort to modernize Nigeria’s infrastructure and empower its citizens. The Light Up Nigeria Project holds the promise of not only revitalizing the South-East’s industrial landscape but also fostering job creation and economic prosperity across the region.

Governors and dignitaries present at the launch expressed their optimism about the project’s potential to transform the region’s economy. Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State hailed the initiative as a “new dawn” for the power sector in the South-East, emphasizing its significance in driving down power costs and stimulating industrial growth.
