Snake Island Port has reiterated its dedication to advancing port infrastructure and supporting Nigeria’s economic growth.

In a statement on Friday, the port made this known during a familiarisation tour of its terminals in Lagos Harbour by members of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) governing board.

Executive Chairman of Snake Island Integrated Free Zone (SIIFZ), Maher Jarmakani, described the visit as a reflection of strong collaboration between the private sector and government agencies.

“This visit highlights the vital partnership between private entities and regulators in promoting compliance and operational excellence. We appreciate the NPA’s continued support as we develop world-class infrastructure to drive regional growth and strengthen Africa’s connection to global trade,” Jarmakani said.

Chairman of the NPA governing board, Dayo Adeyeye, commended Nigerdock and SIIFZ for their sustained investments and partnerships with global industry players, noting that such efforts are critical to Nigeria’s maritime and economic advancement.

“We applaud the management of Nigerdock and SIIFZ for their strategic initiatives in terminal development. This is a vital step toward economic transformation, and we remain committed to supporting it,” Adeyeye stated.

In 2024, Nigerdock and the NPA signed an agreement to develop Snake Island Port, a green port comprising three terminals under a public-private partnership with the Federal Government.

Located within Lagos Harbour, the port serves as a modern, integrated maritime hub offering efficient access to West African and international trade routes, combining multi-terminal flexibility with Free Zone advantages to enhance cargo movement.
