The Lagos State Government has commenced the implementation of a revised land administration framework in the Lekki axis, issuing allocation letters to 98 villages following the redrawing of the Lekki land map. The initiative is aimed at improving land governance, resolving longstanding ownership disputes, and providing greater certainty for communities, investors, and property developers.
According to state officials, the exercise forms part of broader efforts to modernise land administration and ensure that land allocations are properly documented in line with the state’s urban development plans. The issuance of allocation letters is expected to provide beneficiaries with formal recognition of their land interests while supporting orderly physical planning and infrastructure development.
The government explained that the review of the Lekki land map was necessary to accommodate changing development patterns, clarify land boundaries, and reduce conflicts arising from overlapping claims.
