The Olubimi, Olubunmi, Fagbayi, Akapo, and Agbedeyi families find themselves entangled in a complex web of disputes as they appeal to the government to rescue them from the clutches of an alleged land grabber, Abiodun Ejigbadero, wreaking havoc in Alimosho, Orile Agege, and surrounding areas.

At a recent joint stakeholders meeting, Chief Adedayo Oki, the Baale of Oki kingdom, took center stage, accusing Ejigbadero of masquerading as a legitimate landowner while subjecting the community to torment and threats. Oki passionately pleaded for government intervention to put an end to the accused’s reign of harassment, emphasizing the urgent need for peace in the affected areas.

“I am appealing to the government to rescue us. We want the government’s intervention so that everything will be fine, and people in the community can live in peace,” implored Chief Adedayo Oki. He shed light on the alleged deceit by the late Jimoh Ejigbadero, the accused’s father, who claimed to have acquired approximately 160 acres of land from their father in 1975.

Chief Olagoke Bakare, the Baale of Fapohunda Community, further highlighted the challenges residents face due to Ejigbadero’s actions. Bakare, a victim of the alleged land grabber’s threats and confrontations, pointed out an ongoing court case involving forgery, impersonation, and false pretense against Ejigbadero. He detailed the demolition of a building without due process and expressed concern over an unidentified policeman allegedly supporting the accused.

Akinleye Abiodun, the General Secretary of Olubunmi family, underlined that the late Ejigbadero was also involved in land grabbing, urging tenants and occupants to report threats of victimization to the police or the palace of Oba of Orile Agege.

In response, Ejigbadero vehemently denied the allegations, presenting documents to assert his late father’s legitimate purchase of the land over 50 years ago. He claimed to possess more than 10 court judgments against the accusers and challenged them to seek justice through the legal system.

As the families continue their plea for government intervention, the community remains embroiled in a complex legal battle, with both sides vehemently asserting their claims and seeking resolution to the protracted land dispute.
