International Women’s Day: Governor Bago Describes Women in Governance as The Icing on The Cake

Niger State Governor Umar Bago has described the participation of women in governance as icing on the cake making governance effective and efficient.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary Bologi Ibrahim, to celebrate the Women on their International Day, the Governor acknowledged that Women are special and resilient, with physiological as well as mental strength to handle issues.

He said the significant role of women in nation-building cannot be overemphasized pointing out that his administration is committed to giving women fair representation.

The Governor stressed that women possess the pedigree and wherewithal to occupy more elective and appointed positions to ensure growth in democracy.

He said that his administration has appointed an unprecedented number of Women into various political offices, maintaining that he is determined to come up with a strategy that would ensure more of them get elective positions in the State.

Bago also assured that his government would evolve programmes and policies that would empower and address the needs of women in the State.

While congratulating the Women world over on the occasion of their International Day, the Governor urged them to remain steadfast, and committed and continue to offer selfless services, individually and collectively, for the overall benefit of humanity.
