Lagos Authorities Demolish Shops in Ajah Market

In a recent enforcement operation, the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps apprehended two traders as they demolished shops along Akiogun Road, Oniru, Eti-Osa Local Government Area.

The action, reported by the official handle of the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, involved the removal of illegal structures in the area.

Following a morning patrol in the Lekki-Ajah axis, officials also cleared kiosks along Chevron Drive, where traders had regrouped after being dislodged previously.

The recurrence led to the arrest of two individuals during the operation.

In a separate incident, the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office sealed the Carillion Construction office building at Victoria Island for discharging sewage into public drainage illegally, utilizing a pumping machine.

Operatives from various agencies, including the Special Offenses Taskforce, responded to a petition from the Omole Phase Two Community Development Association by removing illegal structures along Somide Odujinrin Avenue, emphasizing the government’s stance against environmental degradation.

The Lagos State Government reiterated its zero tolerance for the unlawful discharge of untreated sewage into public drains and water bodies, urging citizens to desist from such acts.

These actions underscore the ongoing efforts by Lagos authorities to maintain environmental standards and ensure compliance with regulations.
