The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has launched a 300-unit affordable housing project for its officers in Lagos State. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Tuesday in the Igbehin Community area of the state.
The initiative is being led by the NSCDC Lagos Command Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society. It aims to help personnel own homes and improve their quality of life.
During the launch event, Lagos State NSCDC Commandant, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, praised the project. He described it as a proactive step toward ensuring the long-term welfare of officers and men of the corps.
Keshinro stated that the housing estate would include mini flats and two-bedroom apartments. Allocation will be based on interest expressed by personnel.
“It is not right for an officer to retire without owning a home. That’s why the cooperative worked hard to make this project a reality,” he said.
The commandant added that the housing plan aligns with the directive of the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Audi. The CG has consistently emphasized the need to provide officers with decent housing as part of their welfare package.
The housing project is expected to ease the accommodation burden on security personnel, boost morale, and promote stability among officer
