Ganduje Lands New Role as Chairman of FAAN Board

Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, former Governor of Kano State and immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been officially inaugurated as the Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

The inauguration, held in Abuja on Wednesday, marks Ganduje’s return to public office just weeks after stepping down from his role at the helm of the ruling party. His swearing-in was confirmed by Gbenga Saka, digital media adviser to the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, who posted a video of the event on social media.

President Bola Tinubu had earlier named Ganduje for the FAAN position in January 2025, but the formal handover came shortly after Ganduje voluntarily resigned from his APC leadership role. The party cited “urgent personal matters” as the reason for his departure.

In his resignation letter addressed to the party’s National Working Committee, Ganduje thanked President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve and pledged continued commitment to national development.

With Ganduje’s exit, Ali Dalori has been named interim APC chairman, pending a full National Executive Committee meeting to appoint a permanent replacement.

Ganduje, who governed Kano State for eight years (2015–2023), took over APC’s leadership in August 2023. His new role at FAAN places him at the heart of Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure, overseeing policy, development, and modernization efforts across the country’s airports.
