The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has teamed up with the Lagos State Government to advance the National Land Titling, Registration, and Documentation Programme (NLTRDP) through a high-level stakeholders’ workshop in Lagos.
According to the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Badamasi Haiba, the event taking place today in Lagos—will be flagged off by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, and hosted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The workshop is expected to draw top figures from the built environment, including real estate experts, mortgage institutions, financial service providers, and other key industry stakeholders.
Speaking ahead of the event, Dangiwa highlighted the federal government’s commitment to unlocking the economic potential of Nigeria’s landed assets. “We are working closely with the World Bank to implement meaningful land reforms that will enhance transparency, stimulate investment, and improve property ownership documentation nationwide,” he said.
The NLTRDP aims to streamline the titling and registration process across the country, reduce bottlenecks, and boost investor confidence in Nigeria’s real estate sector. A similar workshop was held in Abuja in March 2025 to kick-start the programme’s rollout.
In a related move, the federal government recently suspended all land allocations and reclamation activities along the Lagos Lagoon shoreline. A committee set up by Dangiwa is tasked with ensuring proper documentation, eliminating abuse, and harmonising approvals for developments in the area.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, who will co-host the session, is expected to outline Lagos State’s efforts to support the initiative, particularly in integrating the state’s digital land registry with the national framework to enhance efficiency and transparency in property transactions.
