Lagos Govt Names Festus Adebayo Lead Speaker at World Habitat Day 2026
The Lagos State Government has named leading Africa housing advocate and media entrepreneur, Festus Adebayo, as Lead Speaker for its 2026 World Habitat Day celebration scheduled for October 5 in Lagos.
Adebayo, who is Executive Director of the Housing Development Advocacy Network (HDAN), Founder of first Africa Housing TV and founder of the Africa International Housing Show (AIHS), will speak on the theme, “Adequate Housing for All.”
The event will take place at The Blue Roof, Lagos Television (LTV), Lateef Jakande Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
According to the Lagos State Government, this year’s programme will focus on effective tools and approaches to delivering decent and habitable shelter as well as promoting resilient and inclusive urban development.
The government said World Habitat Day provides an opportunity to draw attention to the collective responsibility of governments, institutions, professionals, the private sector and citizens in shaping the future of cities and improving living conditions.
As Lead Speaker, Adebayo is expected to address practical approaches to expanding access to adequate housing, particularly against the challenges of affordability, housing finance, land, infrastructure and rapid urbanisation.
His presentation is also expected to examine the roles of government, developers, financial institutions, professional bodies and civil society in accelerating housing delivery and ensuring that low- and middle-income households are not left behind.
Adebayo has spent more than two decades championing housing-sector advocacy and promoting dialogue among government, private-sector operators, professionals, investors and development institutions.
Through HDAN, Housing TV Africa and the Africa International Housing Show, he has been involved in advocacy and industry engagements aimed at advancing affordable housing, housing finance, consumer protection and sustainable urban development in Nigeria and across Africa.
The Lagos State Government said the 2026 World Habitat Day theme reflects the continuing need for policies and practical interventions that can deliver good and habitable shelter while building more inclusive and resilient communities.
