The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has sealed Paradise Estate located in the Life Camp Extension area of Abuja over alleged violations of consumer rights.
Allegations of Undelivered Housing Units
The enforcement action followed multiple complaints from buyers who accused the estate management of failing to deliver housing units despite receiving full payment.
According to the Commission, the decision to shut down the property was based on verified petitions and persistent non-compliance with regulatory directives.
Repeated Non-Compliance Triggers Action
The FCCPC stated that the estate’s management failed to respond adequately to several enforcement notices and directives issued by the agency.
It noted that continued disregard for consumer protection standards ultimately led to the sealing of the estate.
FCCPC Reaffirms Consumer Protection Mandate
Reiterating its position, the Commission emphasized its commitment to safeguarding consumers from exploitative and unfair business practices.
The agency also warned real estate developers to honour contractual obligations and comply fully with existing consumer protection laws.
Growing Scrutiny in Real Estate Sector
The action underscores increasing regulatory scrutiny within Nigeria’s real estate sector, particularly around delayed project delivery and contract breaches.
Industry observers say the move could signal stricter enforcement against developers who fail to meet obligations to property buyers.
