The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Engr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma, has reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring timely completion of all ongoing housing projects across Nigeria.

He made the declaration during the second edition of the Renewed Hope Housing Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Summit held in Abuja, where stakeholders gathered to assess progress on housing delivery under the government’s Renewed Hope agenda.

FG To Strengthen Housing Delivery Through PPPs

The summit, themed “From Policy to Projects: Financing and Delivering Housing at Scale through PPPs,” brought together key stakeholders from government agencies, financial institutions, developers, and development partners.

Darma said the outcomes of the summit would play a critical role in shaping the Ministry’s strategic framework for housing delivery and economic growth.

He explained that the Ministry’s Strategic Plan would be unveiled by the end of May after consultations with relevant departments and agencies.

“Whatever plan we come up with, we will pursue diligently to ensure that it delivers meaningful results for Nigerians,” he said.

New Housing Framework To Drive Homeownership

The minister said the Federal Government plans to scale up housing delivery nationwide through stronger Public-Private Partnership models, innovative financing structures, and broader stakeholder participation.

According to him, the goal is to expand access to affordable homes and enable more Nigerians to become homeowners as ongoing projects progress across the country.

He added that the government remains committed to completing existing projects while accelerating new developments under the Renewed Hope Housing programme.

“We remain fully committed to the timely completion and commissioning of all ongoing Renewed Hope Housing Projects across the country,” he stated.

1,550 Housing Units For Military Personnel

Darma also disclosed that the Ministry is working with the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund to deliver 1,550 housing units for members of the Armed Forces.

He said the project is part of efforts to improve the welfare and living conditions of military personnel while expanding national housing stock.

FMBN Supports Large-Scale Housing Projects

Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), Engr. Shehu Usman Osidi, said the bank had provided a N100 billion off-taker guarantee to support developers under the Renewed Hope Housing and Estates programme.

He noted that housing projects are currently ongoing in Abuja, Kano, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Enugu, and Maiduguri.

Strategic Focus On Execution

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, commended the minister for sustaining the housing summit initiative.

He said the focus of the summit is shifting from policy discussions to execution, with emphasis on project structuring, financing mobilisation, land access, and partnership development to deliver housing at scale.
