First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Donates ₦1bn to Plateau Attack Victims

In a heartfelt visit to Plateau State, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, announced a ₦1 billion donation to support victims of recent violent attacks emphasizing that her mission was rooted in compassion, not political ambition.

Speaking at the Government House in Jos on Thursday, Tinubu explained that the funds came from her Renewed Hope Initiative, not public coffers. With emotion in her voice, she described her role not just as First Lady, but as a mother deeply affected by the bloodshed and suffering.

“This visit is personal to me. I delayed coming not because I didn’t care, but because my heart breaks every time I hear of lives lost. I pray this will be the last time Plateau State suffers such pain,” she said.

During the visit, she made a passionate appeal to men in the state to rise and protect their communities. She also recalled a symbolic moment when a young girl welcomed her at the airport with fruits, calling Plateau “the land of peace and tourism”—a sign, she said, of hope for restoration.

Tinubu urged traditional and religious leaders to rise beyond politics and lead peacebuilding efforts, reminding them that while political leaders come and go, they remain the true custodians of the land.

“My love for this country isn’t about politics,” she said. “It’s about gratitude—for how Nigeria has shaped me. As I age, I want to enjoy this country’s beauty, not be consumed by its politics.”

Governor Caleb Mutfwang praised her as a true “mother of the nation,” commending her for not just donating funds, but for connecting deeply with the people.

Also in attendance was the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima, who highlighted how the Renewed Hope Initiative continues to provide nationwide support to women traders and persons with disabilities—offering ₦50 million grants to each state and ₦200,000 individual cash support for 250 disabled persons per state.

Traditional rulers, Christian leaders, and women representatives also lauded the First Lady’s visit and echoed calls for sustainable peace.

📌 Summary:
Oluremi Tinubu’s ₦1bn donation in Plateau is more than financial aid—it’s a symbol of empathy, national unity, and a call to action for peace.
